Why has St. Eleanor’s Building Committee decided
not to build a church on the present
property, but to seek an alternative site?
Parking is the obstacle that is we cannot overcome. The new church complex would
require, according to the Village of Ruidoso Planning and Zoning Staff
252 parking spaces. We have room for 127 parking spaces.
That leaves us 125 parking spaces short.
Additionally, the city would require us to include a
drainage pond, about the same size as that
located in front of the hospital. This would further encroach on available
parking space.
Can we stay where we are and simply remodel our existing building?
That doesn’t work either. The exact same parking requirements applied to new
construction come into play the moment you build or enlarge a current
structure.
For these reasons, we are forced to seek a new site. It is important for all of us to
understand this…
It is not that the new church is too big –
we just do not have enough land.
Please work with us and continue to pray for the Family of St. Eleanor’s that we will one day
realize our dream, your dream, of a new church home.
